Shipping Policy

1. Shipping Coverage

Nano Tanks Australia ships dry goods Australia-wide.

However, due to biosecurity regulations, animal welfare considerations, and carrier limitations, we do not ship live goods to the following states and territories:

  • Western Australia (WA)

  • Northern Territory (NT)

  • Tasmania (TAS)

Live goods include:

  • Live fish

  • Shrimp and other invertebrates

  • Live aquatic plants

Orders containing live goods with delivery addresses in these regions cannot be processed. If such an order is placed, we will contact you to either:

  • remove the live items from the order, or

  • cancel and refund the live-goods portion of the order.

WE ONLY SHIP ON MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS


2. Product Categories & Shipping Methods

Dry Goods (Non-Living Products)

  • Shipped Australia-wide via Australia Post or equivalent couriers.

  • Estimated delivery times:

    • Metro areas: 1–5 business days

    • Regional areas: 3–7 business days

  • Large or bulky items may be shipped via freight services (e.g. Toll IPEC).


Live Plants & Invertebrates

  • Shipped via Australia Post Express or equivalent express services.

  • Available to eligible states only (excluding WA, NT, TAS).

  • Typical delivery timeframe: 1–2 business days (metro).

  • Orders may be held if weather conditions are deemed unsafe for transport.


Live Fish

Live fish are shipped using premium courier services (e.g. Toll Priority, StarTrack Premium) and only to eligible states.

To prioritise animal welfare:

  • Live fish are dispatched early in the week (usually Monday–Tuesday).

  • We do not ship live fish:

    • before weekends or public holidays

    • during extreme weather conditions

Dispatch timing is based on livestock welfare, not order date.


3. Shipping Costs & Surcharges

Shipping costs vary based on product type, size, weight, and destination:

  • Dry goods: Calculated at checkout

  • Live plants & invertebrates: Express shipping rates apply

  • Live fish: Courier-based pricing applies

Additional charges may apply for:

  • oversized or multi-box consignments

  • regional or difficult-access locations

Any additional charges will be confirmed before dispatch.


4. Order Processing & Dispatch

  • Orders are typically processed within 1–2 business days after payment confirmation.

  • Tracking details are provided once the order is dispatched.

  • Delivery times are estimates and may vary due to carrier delays, weather, or regional access.


5. Responsibility & Risk

Once an order has been dispatched and handed to the carrier, delivery timing and handling are managed by the courier, subject to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Live goods inherently carry transport risk. While we follow industry best-practice packing and welfare standards, outcomes during transit cannot be guaranteed.

For issues such as Dead on Arrival (DOA), please refer to our Return & Exchange Policy.


6. Address Accuracy & Delivery

Customers are responsible for ensuring:

  • the delivery address is correct

  • someone is available to receive live goods where required

We are not responsible for losses caused by incorrect addresses, missed deliveries, or unattended parcels.

 

(Please note that we do not now use Methylene Blue for our shipments.)
