  • Jurassic Natural Cypress Bark 8 Litres - Nano Tanks Australia

Jurassic Natural Cypress Bark 8 Litres

THIS PRODUCT TAKES AROUND 9-12 DAYS FOR SHIPPING AND DELIVERY A true Jurassic wood from when the dinosaurs ruled the world. The cypress family, a group of conifers with scale like leaves, is believed to have originated more than 200 million years ago, when Pangaea was intact. Red Cypress is native to Australia. Cypress bedding is a light weight bedding, and due to the way it loosely packs within the terrarium it is ideal for reptiles that enjoy burrowing. Cypress absorbs large amounts of moisture and readily allows for evaporation, translating to higher humidity within the enclosure whilst avoiding damp bedding. Directions: Spread evening to the depth of approx 2 inches (4-5cm) around the base of your terrarium. You can create mounds and gullies that suit your terrain designs. When used for planting, be sure to build up enough substrate to cover any roots or hold your plants firmly. Can be mixed with Tropical Coco Soil and Sphagnum Moss for an extra rich combination. Spot clean as required and replace or top up periodically

The structure of each piece is quite stunning with it's intricate shapes.  These wood were originally from China and have made its way in the aquascaping field in 2020 by being more heavier and darker in colour it replaced Gold Vine. The only thing we found with these wood is that it does leech a lot of dark tannins! However, that's really the only issue we have found with this wood. There are more advantages then disadvantages.. such as there are no real build up of biofilm as you do in Gold Vine. Definitely worth a go the next time you do a tank. • L333 KING TIGER PLECO (SIZE 3CM) - Nano Tanks Australia Aquarium Shop

L333 KING TIGER PLECO (SIZE 3CM)

    Out of stock

The L333  King Tiger Pleco (Hypancistrus sp.) is a member of the Loricariidae family of South American suckermouth catfishes.  Its entire body is covered in black and white or yellow “maze-like” stripes, making it a very striking fish for the planted or nano aquarium.  Like many plecos, the King Tiger Pleco has generally been a wild-caught species, but we are proud to be among the first stores to offer tank-raised juveniles at a much lower cost than wild-caught specimens! A generally peaceful and hardy species, the King Tiger Pleco is an excellent, undemanding candidate for most aquariums. Unlike the widely-seen Common Pleco (Hypostomus plecostomus) and Trinidad Pleco (Hypostomus punctatus), which easily reach a monstrous size of 18 to 20+ inches (45 to 51+ cm), the King Tiger Pleco grows to a size of only 5.5 to 6.3 inches (13.75 to 15.75 cm).   This smaller size makes for a much more manageable (and less messy) pleco that can thrive permanently in a well-maintained aquarium as small as 40 gallons.  Male plecos may be somewhat territorial with other males of their species, but disputes can usually be diffused by providing ample territory and hiding places for each fish.  All other fish tankmates will be generally ignored, although it is likely that dwarf shrimp will fall prey to the King Tiger Pleco.  However, ornamental snails will not be bothered and large Amano, Green Lace, Flower, and Vampire Shrimp are generally unthreatened by the King Tiger Pleco.  Please note that this fish requires a significantly warmer temperature than many other fish and invertebrates.  Some shrimp will not thrive in these high temperatures. The King Tiger Pleco is primarily nocturnal, but will often become active during daytime hours once established in an aquarium with plenty of driftwood, rockwork, and other hiding places.  It is not known to eat wood heavily like some plecos (Panaque sp., etc.), but it may benefit from some supplementary wood (or bio-film on driftwood). The King Tiger Pleco will not bother most plants and it is not an effective algae eater Feed the King Tiger Pleco a diet heavy in both meaty and vegetable matter, including high-quality vegetable flakes, sinking algae wafers, and pellets.  It will also appreciate being fed some fresh vegetables such as shelled peas, spinach, zucchini, and cucumber.  Meaty foods such as bloodworms are definitely necessary for this species, especially in comparison to some other “pleco” species.  This species requires a well-maintained aquarium with moderate to high water flow in order to thrive. What We Like About This Fish: The King Tiger Pleco is an extremely beautiful and very peaceful, hardy addition to almost any aquarium. At a maximum size of 5.1 to 6 inches, this is a very practical and manageable fish. This fish will not bother most plants.  It will also scavenge and consume most uneaten fish food. The King Tiger Pleco is an aquarium fish with a unique appearance as well as plenty of personality. RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS:  Temperature:  79° - 86° F (26° - 30° C) pH:  5.5 - 7.5 (flexible as long as sudden changes are avoided) KH:  6 - 10 dKH Minimum tank size:  40 gallons

    L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco 4-5cm

    Out of stock

The L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco is a remarkably rare and colourful species that is now available as a tank-bred specimen and is a very manageable species for the home aquarium! The L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco (Panaqolus sp.) is an exceptionally colourful and rare loricariid (suckermouth catfish) species that has been successfully tank-bred commercially in just the last few years. Its bright orange and black striping are very distinguishable and among the most striking colourations of the hundreds of known plecos. Like many plecos, the L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco has generally been a wild-caught species, but we are proud to offer tank-raised juveniles of this beautiful fish at a fraction of the price of other stores! A generally peaceful and hardy species, the L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco is an excellent, undemanding candidate for most aquariums. Unlike the widely-seen Common Pleco (Hypostomus plecostomus) and Trinidad Pleco (Hypostomus punctatus), which easily reach a monstrous size of 18 to 20+ inches (45 to 51+ cm), the L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco grows to a maximum size of only around 5 inches (12.7 cm). This smaller size makes for a much more manageable (and less messy) pleco that can thrive permanently in a well-maintained aquarium as small as 30 to 40 gallons. Male plecos may be somewhat territorial with other males of their species, but disputes can usually be diffused by providing ample territory and hiding places for each fish. All other tank mates will be generally ignored, although it is possible that small shrimp fry might fall prey to the omnivorous L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco. The L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco is primarily nocturnal, but will often become active during daytime hours once established in an aquarium with plenty of driftwood, rocks, and other hiding places. Like its larger cousins of the Panaque genus, the L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco is a "wood eating" pleco whose sucker mouth contains teeth that rasp biofilm from driftwood. It is ideal to have multiple driftwood pieces upon which this fish can graze, and at least some wood must be present at all times. The L397 Alenquer Tiger is not a particularly efficient algae eater, but its rasping habits may result in damage to ornamental plants, particularly in smaller tanks. It is possible that it would not do noticeable damage to more durable plants in a fairly large tank with plenty of driftwood. It will also appreciate being fed some fresh vegetables such as shelled peas, spinach, zucchini, and cucumber, or dry and frozen foods that are very rich in vegetable matter. What We Like About This Fish: An extremely beautiful, very peaceful, and hardy addition to almost any aquarium. At a maximum size of 5 inches, this is a very practical and manageable fish. Superb tank-bred juvenile specimens The L397 Alenquer Tiger Pleco is an aquarium fish with a unique appearance as well as plenty of personality. RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS: Temperature: 79° - 84° F (26° - 29° C) pH: 6.5 - 7.5 (flexible as long as sudden changes are avoided) KH: 6 - 10 dKH Minimum tank size: 30 gallons CARE GUIDELINES: Diet: Omnivorous, see above. Social behaviour: Generally solitary, but will socialise somewhat, especially during breeding. Origin: Tank-bred, but indigenous to Lower Amazon, South America.
