  • Seachem Prime 50ml - Nano Tanks Australia Aquarium Shop

    Seachem Prime 50ml

    18 in stock

Prime is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank’s biofilter. Prime may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Prime also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Prime is non-acidic and will not impact pH. Prime will not overactivate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water. WHY IT'S DIFFERENT Nearly all companies manufacture a product that removes chlorine. None of those, however, can compare in quality, concentration, or effectiveness to Seachem’s flagship product: Prime. Prime is the second most concentrated dechlorinator on the market after Seachem Aquavitro Alpha™. A single 100ml bottle will treat 1000 US gallons of tap water. Prime will remove both chlorine and chloramines from municipal water supplies. Prime also contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic. It is very important to understand how those two functions work together. All dechlorinators operate through a chemical process known as reduction. In this process, toxic dissolved chlorine gas (Cl2) is converted into non-toxic chloride ions (Cl-). The reduction process also breaks the bonds between chlorine and nitrogen atoms in the chloramine molecule (NH2Cl), freeing the chlorine atoms and replacing them with hydrogen (H) to create ammonia (NH3). Typically, dechlorinators stop there, leaving an aquarium full of toxic ammonia! Seachem takes the necessary next step by including an ammonia binder to detoxify the ammonia produced in the reduction process. Be very careful when purchasing water conditioners. If your municipality includes chloramines in the water supplies, a standard sodium thiosulfate dechlorinator is not enough. Prime promotes the natural production and restoration of the slime coat rather than relying on artificial or non-native slime compounds. A further bonus for the reef hobbyist - Prime will not overactivate protein skimmers. DIRECTIONS Use 1 capful (5ml) for each 200L (50 gallons) of new water. This removes approximately 1mg/L ammonia, 4mg/L chloramine, or 5mg/L chlorine. For smaller doses, please note each cap thread is approx. 1ml. May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. Sulfur odor is normal. For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite in an emergency, up to 5 times normal dose may be used. If temperature is > 30°C (86°F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose. 50ml

Safe™ removes chlorine, chloramine and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It is non-acidic and will not impact pH. A further bonus for the reef hobbyist—Safe™ will not over-activate skimmers. Safe™ may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. It contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water. When transporting or quarantining fish, use Seachem StressGuard™. When adding new fish, use Stability®. Both are ideal for use with Safe™. Directions Use 200 mg of Safe™ (included scoop) per each 200 L (50 US gallons) as needed to reduce chlorine and chloramine or per 50 L (13 US gallons) for ammonia. NOTE: These directions supersede all other prior packaging. May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite and nitrate in an emergency, up to 4 times normal dose may be used. • Seachem Stabilty 50ml - Nano Tanks Australia Aquarium Shop

    Seachem Stabilty 50ml

    21 in stock

Stability will rapidly and safely establish the aquarium biofilter in freshwater and marine systems, thereby preventing the #1 cause of fish death: "new tank syndrome". Stability is formulated specifically for the aquarium and contains a synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria which facilitate the breakdown of waste organics, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Unlike competing products, the bacteria employed by Stability are non-sulfur fixing and will not produce toxic hydrogen sulfide. Stability is completely harmless to all aquatic organisms as well as aquatic plants, thus there is no danger of over use. Stability is the culmination of nearly a decade of research and development and represents the current state of the art in natural biological management. WHY IT'S DIFFERENT The bacteria used in competing products are inherently unstable. The conditions necessary for their growth and development fall into a very narrow range of temperatures, pH, organic loads, etc. When any of these parameters are not strictly within the proper range, the bacterial culture quickly crashes and dies. Stability does not contain any of the aforementioned bacteria. The bacteria strains in Stability have been in development for over a decade. The necessary conditions for growth of our bacterial strains encompass a very broad range. When other bacteria begin to die off (usually from high organic loads caused by the undetected death of an organism), Stability simply works harder and grows faster! The strains function in fresh or saltwater. Stability contains both nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria, a blend found in no other product. Additionally, Stability contains facultative bacterial strains which are able to adapt to either aerobic or anaerobic conditions. The bacteria in Stability are non-sulfur fixing, another innovation in the industry. Most other bacterial supplements will form toxic hydrogen sulfide under the proper conditions. Stability will not, ever. DIRECTIONS Use 1 capful (5ml) for each 40L (10 gallons) on the first day with a new aquarium. Then use 1 capful for each 80L (20 gallons) daily for 7 days. Fish and other aquatic species may be introduced at any time as long as dosage is maintained for 7 days. For optimum biofilter performance use 1 capful for each 40L (10 gallons) once a month or with each water change and whenever introducing new fish or whenever medicating an aquarium. 50ml

  • SHIPPED ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA: Australian Black Worms Live Worms Blackworms 100mL - Nano Tanks Australia Aquarium Shop

SHIPPED ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA: Australian Black Worms Live Worms Blackworms 100mL

    1 review

OUR NEXT SHIPMENT IS FIRST WEEK OF THE MONTH   Live Blackworms are harvested fresh in Victoria We always have these worms in stock (however it will depend on the demand) When we send these they need to be kept cold with ice. SHIPPING IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS BETWEEN NOVEMBER TO FEBRUARY. Live Black worms are harvested fresh in Victoria These worms have a high protein 46% to fat 20% ratio and are the ideal food for breeding fish or the increased mass of young. However please make sure that you feed your fish sparingly Live Black worms as fish can get constipated and this will cause dropsy or bloat on the fish. We strive in maintaining a healthy stock at all times and we will make every effort to provide the necessary advice to make sure they are kept alive in optimum condition. If you are looking to keep this long term then please let us know so we can advise you accordingly LIVE BLACK WORMS What are Black Worms? Live Black Worms is a species called Lumbriculus variegatus and come from very cool climates in shallow-water marshes, ponds, and swamps, feeding on microorganisms and organic material. Where are Black Worms from? Live Black Worms originated from North America and Europe. However, we get our worms fresh from Victoria. How often do you have Live Black Worms? We get our worms usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday of the week. We usually get around 1-2kg of Live Black Worms. This is why when you purchase our worms they are always fresh What do you mean by 30mL or 1L? Does that include water? When we write 30mL or 1L that is the volume of worms you get. We send our worms with as little water in the bag as possible. The reason why we don’t send it with water is that the water gets dirty very quickly with Ammonia. Where do black worms live? These are harvested from clean water that gets its water from the Victorian Alps Vineyards and other crop-thirsty plants also are grown in the area. How do you keep black worms alive? Black worms need fast-moving water to keep them alive. We recommend that you use a sponge filter for smaller amounts. Larger amounts would require you to use a sump filter. Can you breed black worms? Black worms can breed readily in an aquarium setting. They breed in two ways. The first is asexual where they rub off hard surfaces and ‘break off.’ When they do, the head will grow a tail and the tail a head. The other way they breed is via eggs. However, we have discovered that egg produced by black worms is quite minimal. It should be considered that if you wish to produce live black worms economically you do need readily available water and high-protein food. But ultimately growing black worms is uneconomical for a home hobbyist and we encourage you to consider (to save time) getting it from Nano Tanks. Are black worms harmful to humans? Black worms are not harmful to humans if you touch them. However, if you suffer from dermatitis or other skin conditions it is known that black worms will cause a reaction to your skin. To avoid such contact we advise that you use gloves for this very purpose. Naturally, there are bacteria and other worms, leaf leaches and etc that come with the worms. These are grown naturally with the worms and should not harm humans. As a rule, however, it is advisable that you wash your hands thoroughly with a properly antibacterial agent. How do you send your black worms? When we send these worms, they need to be kept cold with ice. Please be aware of your ambient temperature and that the heat will kill them. We only will send this via Toll Priority/ Australia Post Express Post Service please make sure you select the Live Fish Shipping option   GET THIS IN SMALLER QUANTITIES WHEN YOU COME IN STORE PRICES START AT $9 FOR 15ML

    Synogium various colours

    9 in stock

Syngonium is a genus of tropical and subtropical plants that are popular in the aquarium hobby. The most commonly used species in aquariums is Syngonium podophyllum, which is also known as the Arrowhead plant. In an aquarium, Syngonium plants are typically used for their aesthetic appeal and their ability to absorb excess nutrients from the water, which can help to improve water quality. Syngonium plants are a type of epiphytic plant, which means that they can grow without being rooted in soil. Instead, they can attach themselves to rocks, driftwood, or other decorations in the aquarium. Syngonium plants have heart-shaped leaves that can vary in color, from green to variegated shades of green and white. One of the benefits of using Syngonium plants in an aquarium is their ability to absorb excess nutrients from the water. This can help to reduce the levels of nitrates and phosphates, which can be harmful to fish and other aquatic inhabitants if they are present in high levels. Additionally, Syngonium plants can help to improve water clarity by absorbing particulate matter from the water. Syngonium plants are also popular in aquascaping because of their aesthetic appeal. They can be used to create a natural-looking environment in the aquarium and can add a pop of color to an otherwise dull aquascape. Syngonium plants can be used as a foreground or midground plant, and can be grown both emersed (with their leaves above the water) and submersed (with their leaves below the water). In terms of care, Syngonium plants are relatively easy to grow and require moderate lighting and regular fertilization. They can be propagated by taking stem cuttings and rooting them in the substrate or by attaching them to decorations in the aquarium. Overall, Syngonium plants are a versatile and attractive addition to any aquarium, and can provide both aesthetic and functional benefits.

  • Tiger Barbs Puntigrus tetrazona 2-4cm - Nano Tanks Australia Aquarium Shop

    Tiger Barbs Puntigrus tetrazona 2-4cm

Appearance Tiger Barbs have an iconic look that even novice fish-keepers will instantly recognize. The body of the fish is quite wide. It’s tallest at the middle point and tapers down to a triangular-shaped snout. These fish are also quite colorful and have a very distinct pattern. The base color of Tiger Barbs is usually golden yellow. Some also have subtle rose gold tint. On top of that base color are several stripes. Care Tiger Barb care isn’t too difficult and can be handled by aquarists without much experience (assuming you stick to the recommendations in this guide). Otherwise, they wouldn’t be as widespread as they are! In general, these fish are relatively hardy and can adapt to simple setups as long as you cover the basics. That said, there are some aspects of their care that’ll require a bit of special attention. Despite their small size and beautiful looks, their strong personalities can be a handful! Here are the main care recommendations you need to know. Tank Size The minimum tank size for a small group of Tiger Barbs should be at least 20 gallons. However, we recommend going with a 30-gallon tank if you can. As we mentioned earlier, these fish are avid swimmers. The more room they have, the better. Plus, ample room to swim may help stave off aggressive behavior. Water Parameters In the wild, you can find Tiger Barbs inhabiting lakes, streams, and swamps that are lined with trees. Thanks to the decaying plant matter in the water, conditions tend to be more acidic. For the best results, you need to mimic their natural environment as closely as possible. That includes getting the water conditions just right. Luckily, the Tiger Barb can tolerate a generous range of conditions. As long as you stick within the following ranges, your fish should have no problem staying healthy. Water temperature: 68°F to 82°F degrees (aim for around 74°F if possible) pH levels: 6.0 to 8.0 (a slightly acidic 6.5 is best) Water hardness: 4 to 10 dKH To ensure that the aquarium has the proper water parameters you should invest in a reliable and accurate test kit. This will help you have confidence in the readings you’re getting, allowing you to make the right adjustments when necessary.
