We all know how tricky it can be to buy betta fish online. You see a stunning picture, fall in love, place your order, and then... the fish that arrives is a little different than what you expected?!

Frustrating, right? Well, that's set to change with our Betta Fish ID System...

We've all been there, scrolling through pictures of those gorgeous bettas, but often what you see isn’t what you get.

Most shops just show a stock image, or the best highly photoshopped Google image they can find, and the betta that shows up at your doorstep could be a completely different ballgame in terms of patterns and colours. Not cool.

But here's our solution: the Fish ID System. It's simple yet brilliant. Every betta in our shop gets its own tank and, more importantly, its own serial number. Think of it like a fish fingerprint.  So when we take the photo, it is tied to the actual tank number.  

So it is typical for a aquarium store to use small tanks to temporarily hold each male Betta, but what in practice happens is there is no close tracking and Betta's are kept in similar 'groups'.  So even if pictures are taken of every single Betta (most Australian aquariums don't do this..), it is likely another Betta will get selected upon packing. 

This could be due to simply a mistake, or more usually a close fish is substituted as the original photo Betta is sold, or now sick.  We will never do this, the betta fish stays in the tank we select for it's picture, and is then sent to you from the same tank.

How's It Work?

1. Unique Serials for Unique Bettas: Each betta gets a serial number. This number is their ID and is displayed right there on their tank.  You can come into our shop, and see it in person.

2. Real Photos, Real Fish: We snap a photo of each fish right in its home tank. The serial number is on the photo, so what you see is literally what you get.

3. Choose Your Star: Browse our site, and you're seeing actual photos of the actual fish in peak health, you see its true colours and patterns, complete with their unique ID.

4. No Mix-Ups or Stress: This ID makes sure that the fish you picked is the fish you get, from the moment you click 'buy' to the moment it's safely in your tank, but if something happens we will make sure you are covered with our Safe Fish Arrival guarantee.
