The Leopard Angelfish are a variety of Pterophyllum scalare, which originated from the Amazon Basin, Orinoco Basin and various rivers in the Guiana Shield in tropical South America and are thus freshwater fish. Angelfish distinguish themselves from other cichlids in that they are strong laterally compressed, yet have a round body and elongated triangular dorsal and anal fins. These elegant yet strikingly shaped fish are popular with both beginner and experienced aquarists alike, and are a joy to observe.
When buying Angels for breeding purposes, it is recommended to buy a group of 6 and let them pair off naturally. Once a pair is formed you want to move them to a breeding tank.
