As its species name suggests, it hails from the famous Pantanal wetland area. C. pantanalensis is found in the Bolivian part of it.
The Pantanal is the biggest wetland habitat in the world. Covering an area of around 150,000 square kilometres, it’s larger in area than Greece! Its biotopes are typified by crystal clear waters and, unlike the Amazon, an abundance of aquatic vegetation.
Maximum Standard Length
A brightly-lit aquarium with plenty of plants and some floating vegetation would simulate its natural environment. As with all corys, don’t use undergravel filtration, and ensure the substrate is kept scrupulously clean, as these catfish are sensitive to poorly-maintained or dirty substrates and can lose their barbels if kept in substandard conditions.
